Landscape Installation Crew Leader

At Green Inspirations Landscaping, we are constantly scouting out new talent that would love to work in the landscaping & horticultural trade. Job Description
To lead a crew of 2-5 people on landscape installation jobsites. Including, but not limited to, reading designs & blueprints, ensuring the right tools, materials, and equipment are on the jobsite before each shift, managing and training the crew under you, as well as working on the jobsite.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 seasons in the landscape trade, and a minimum of 1 season as a crew leader in this trade or another.
  • A valid class 5 drivers license minimum, class 3 or higher is preferred.
  • Travel to and from shop in Whitemouth daily with your own vehicle.
  • Capacity to lead a crew through teamwork, using people’s strengths, keeping the jobsite organized & tidy, and leading by example with a positive attitude.
  • Maintaining communication with other teammates in a respectful and effective way.
  • A strong work ethic, and the ability to work long hours on your feet and in extreme weather conditions including heat, wind, wet or dampness, cold, etc. 8-12 hours per day. Ability to lift 25kgs (50lbs) and more repetitively.
  • Able to read, write, & communicate in English.
  • Proper and respectful communication skills with clients and coworkers on the worksites.
  • Use of online software for time and job task tracking.
  • Work effectively alone or as a team while maintaining motivation.

Daily tasks may include:

  • Manage and work with the landscape team that is assigned to you through all aspects of each project.
  • Train workers under in aspects of the job as it applies.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment and safely working around powered mobile equipment, as well as ensuring that the rest of the crew is doing the same.
  • Physical labour including lifting of heavy objects, moving materials with wheelbarrows or carts, being on your knees for extended periods, shoveling, raking, and more.
  • Installation of multiple types of landscapes including hardscapes and softscapes, including but not limited to, paving stones, retaining walls, basic woodworking, planting of trees, laying of sod, etc.
  • Use of online software for time tracking of all employees on your crew, as well as switching job tasks on the software as they change, and tracking materials used.
  • Proper and safe use of hand and powered tools for the job.
  • Basic maintenance and pre-use checks on small engine tools and equipment.
  • Reading and following landscape designs and blueprints.

Length of seasonal employment, general number of hours worked, wages, and perks

  • Full time employment to begin on or around April 15, weather dependant, with online safety training to be completed prior to that date. Season generally ends by November 15 th , but can vary due to weather.
  • Normal daily work hours are from 7am-6pm including travel to and from the jobsite from our shop in Whitemouth.
  • Monday-Friday work, with potential for Saturday work, especially if the weather has been too wet to work during the regular weekdays or projects are behind for varying reasons.
  • Rate of pay is dependant on work experience, and is between $22-$30 per hour.
  • Overtime pay of 1.5x wage after 50 hours per week.
  • Potential for year round salaried position with some winter work of firewood processing and administrative duties, or other work.

Including, but not limited to, operating mowers, trimming, pruning according to the Manitoba standards, gardening & weeding, ensuring the right tools, materials, and equipment are on the jobsite before each shift, managing and training the crew under you, as well as working on the jobsite.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 seasons in the landscape horticultural trade, and a minimum of 1 season as a crew leader in this trade or another.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of operating skid steer loaders and mini excavators.
  • A minimum of 2 years with a class 3 or higher license and floating equipment.
  • A valid class 3 drivers license minimum.
  • Travel to and from shop in Whitemouth daily with your own vehicle.
  • Be able to set up laser transit to determine depths and grades, and use with equipment to ensure proper depths are dug or raised.
